I'm sick . . . and he is SOOO awake!

Well, it is official - I'm SICK. I can't breathe, I'm all stuffed up and coughing, and I'm just feeling horrible. We've been having a rough day today - Micah has been cluster feeding all day, and he has been wide awake for the past 5 hours. It is kind of fun having him awake, but then he gets upset and wants to nurse. I think he isn't sure what to do with himself. I've been singing to him
(poor guy) and talking to him. I've been giving him a pacifier today - not sure if that is a mistake. It seems to keep him calm, but I don't want to discourage him from eating. He is able to hold it in his mouth all by himself! As DH would say, "He's so advanced." Perhaps Micah isn't feeling well either.

Hopefully being awake will help him sleep better tonight. We're also going to try the secure sleeper and see if that helps. Wish us luck!

Just a thought..........he's 17 days old, that's a few days shy of 3 weeks. There is a growth spurt at 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months.....and that's average, so for an "advanced" baby, haha or any baby, it's possible that he's experiencing his growth spurt early. Feed on demand and you will be rewarded in the next 48 hours with a VERY sleepy child!!! Hope you feel better. :)

UGH! I'm sorry your sick! Hopefully, it will pass quickly. Micah will eat when he's hungry. Jake used a pacifier and Derek sucked his thumb for comfort in between feedings. Sending lots of get well fast vibes!

I can't believe Micah is already over 2 weeks old, time sure does fly once he outside of your belly huh?

Thanks, everyone, for the input! I do think it may be a growth spurt, Susie - the midwife said the same thing. He fed constantly all day yesterday, but we actually got him down for almost 5 hrs overnight - not sure if it was the feedings or the secure sleeper, but we're just happy he slept at night.

Chele - thanks for the reassurance - I can't believe how easy it is to worry over everything!

Shannon - yes, the time does fly - I can't believe how big he is getting.
